Equanimity noun
Mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation.
Equanimity involves maintaining an inner calm and steadiness regardless of the external circumstances.

Why I became a therapist

Because I lived 37 years of life not knowing why I felt and reacted the way I did. Not knowing why there were times I could handle situations well, and other times the exact same thing would set me off into either anger or sadness.

I was in the 1st year of my master's program and 7th year of sobriety when I learned the functionality of the autonomic nervous system, the WHY and the HOW of its processes and its function to protect us.

Now, with lots of practice, I control my internal state and can truly experience Equanimity.

Do you need therapy?

Do you wonder if your problems warrant therapy? Have you ever wondered what therapy is all about and is it for you?

Do you experience:

  • Angry outbursts

  • Complete shut down

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Suicidal ideation

  • Issues with impulse control (smoking, drinking, sex, drugs, porn, food)

You will learn to understand the biophysiological processes of your body. This will normalize the reactions, thoughts, and behaviors that are causing your distress. Ultimately answering the question "Why do I do that?"

Learning about your body and its normal reaction to stress will give you answers and help you decide if you feel you need to move forward with additional therapy. Coming out of this program, you will have the foundational tools to understand your body and the words to describe your needs. This will save you countless hours on your journey to wellness.

The Next 6 Weeks

The goal is to learn about your capacity

  •      What is it?

  •      How to expand it?

  •      Then to develop tools to bring yourself back to a regulated state.

Every person, in a group or individual setting, will begin with learning the foundations of regulation and how to connect to it within their own body.

The first 6 sessions are dedicated to learning and understanding why you feel and react the way you do based on your lived experience. The most important lesson to learn is that your behaviors and reactions are completely normal and expected biological responses to being pushed past your capacity.
